Throughout this newsletter you will read about the many enhancements we have made to our self-service Web portal and improvements in our customer service area based on feedback from producers like you.

We also continue to actively review our product guidelines and rules to ensure that we are easy to do business with without causing deterioration in your loss results. One example of this was a revision to our Reinstatement Guidelines we made in the first quarter of this year.

After listening to your feedback on our non-payment reinstatement process, we determined we could help you retain more customers by extending the reinstatement grace period if a payment is received within five days of the cancellation date. We are pleased to report that we have had significant success with this new process. As reminder, here’s how it works:

For our New York personal auto lines policies with prefixes of A31, B31, T31, D31 or P31 you are now able to accept payment on an installment or renewal non-payment cancellation up to five calendar days past the cancellation date. Follow these simple instructions and your customers’ policies will reinstate without a lapse:

  • Call Customer Service with credit card or checking account information to make payment. The policy will be automatically reinstated during your call.
  • Obtain a signed and dated letter of no loss and maintain in your agency file subject to agency audit.
  • If you are accepting payment outside of normal AutoOne business hours you may mail a payment; however, it must be postmarked within the five-day period. If a payment is postmarked past the five-day grace period PTP will be required and will only be acceptable if dated on or before the actual date of cancel.
  • No exceptions will be made to reinstate policies outside of this five-day window.

In other news, we added a new member to our Product Management group in the second quarter. Gerard Erickson is a 20+ year industry veteran that has come to us in the capacity of product director. We will work together to ensure we continue to deliver the best product possible to your office.
