Special Delivery: HOS Achiever

Hornbeck Offshore Service (HOS) is pleased to announce the impending delivery of our newest vessel, the HOS Achiever. Currently at sea trials in the Netherlands, this T22 class, new generation multipurpose supply vessel (MPSV) is scheduled to join our fleet in the fourth quarter of 2008.

Adaptable design
HOS will acquire the HOS Achiever and related equipment from Superior Offshore International. The vessel was constructed at IHC Merwede Offshore & Marine, in Holland.

With more than 100 years of combined shipbuilding experience, Merwede based the HOS Achiever on its Merwede Type-22 design. That design has been adapted to meet the vessel’s future demands: post-hurricane inspection and repair work and deep-sea construction and maintenance operations in the Gulf of Mexico and worldwide.

Innovative features
To accomplish these missions, the HOS Achiever has been fitted with a multitude of important and innovative features:

• A Huisman pedestal crane, active heave compensation winch, and telescoping stores crane will provide a maximum lift of 160 tons at 47.6 feet and 51 tons at 2,000 feet.
• Sixty-five air-conditioned and heated staterooms (comprising 5 four-man cabins, 29 three-man cabins, 17 two-man cabins and 14 single cabins) support a total crew of 155.
• The vessel can accept two 12-man modular, saturated diving spreads — one of which is operated through the 12.8-foot by 12.8-foot diving moonpool.
• The aft deck can hold a modular pipelay unit.
• A premium C/Ku dual-band VSAT antenna solution will provide extensive global broadband data and voice communications. (See “Sophisticated Systems Improve Vessel Connectivity” in this issue of HOS Spotlight for details of the HOS Achiever’s communications system.)
