Lattice 3D - Technology Times - Case Study

CASIO Manuals Created in Half the Time

CASIO is a global leader in the electronic consumer goods industry with annual revenues of $3.5 billion and 13,000 employees across 33 countries. With more than 14 different product categories, including digital cameras, LCDs, calculators and more, CASIO produces, manages and distributes hundreds of in-depth manuals. To complicate the process further, many of these highly technical products require in-depth, 3D illustrations to provide superior instruction.

XVL to the rescue

Lattice Technology's flexible 3D applications through the ultra-compressed XVL file format couldn't have found a better match. With Lattice's solutions, CASIO is able to efficiently integrate 3D graphics into the manuals, reducing production time by 50-60 percent.

"The most astounding difference was that we could create 3D graphics of the product designed without having to wait and that these graphics could then be directly sent to overseas operations via email," said Mr. Kashiwakuma, Manager of R&D, CASIO.

Integration highway

With CASIO's new-and-improved, highly flexible graphical interpretations of products for the manuals, all other steps in the production cycle fell into place. Rather than handling a balancing act of involved parties and the difficulties associated with information transfer, the whole process is now seamless.

"We found that Lattice3D enabled a much more concurrent workflow for our new product releases," said Kashiwakuma. "Localization of the manuals was then much more straightforward, with writers being able to use the graphical data directly and then publish the manuals both in print and on the Internet in each language. We now estimate that our manual creation process has been reduced by half while we now have high-quality graphics standards throughout our international operation."

Helping you succeed

Lattice Technology's solutions target the core of manufacturing effectiveness and process efficiency, enabling your company to be successful by simplifying what is often a frustrating process.

"Lattice3D and XVL have made a huge difference to our operations and have allowed us to understand how our corporate aims can be achieved on a global basis," said Kashiwakuma.
