Casio's technical illustrators working with Lattice's applications create the company's user manuals faster and more accurately with Lattice's XVL format. The firm's engineering, manufacturing and technical publishing departments now collaborate, manipulate and create up-to-date manuals easily by using the 3D design data directly from the engineers. The illustrators' collaboration not only increases document accuracy, but lets them finish drawings nearly 60 percent faster than before. At each design stage, XVL updates Casio manuals automatically.
MAN Nutzfahrzeuge improved its data quality and enabled 3D data for its entire process chain. The company also found that 3D data is less abstract and can be understood better than a 2D conventional drawing. By designing in 3D, the firm cut out an entire 2D drawing production step, saving time and money. MAN's non-CAD staff can visualize and interrogate design models, enabling easier cooperation and including new refinements such as 3D animations of part assembly and disassembly or exploded views.
KVAL Inc. builds customized, high-quality machinery and parts and provides service for the millwork industry. It designs and installs more than 300 unique machines a year, and maintains more than 10,000 in the field. Often, a single machine has up to 6,000 individual parts. With XVL, the company easily creates 3D files at a fraction of the size of the e-drawings it previously used. Sharing the compact 3D models has decreased KVAL's assembly and rework time by as much as 20 percent. The improved communication also cut new technician learning time from days to minutes and decreased spare-part service calls by 15-20 minutes.
