Time Warner Telecom Completes Direct Energy, Begins Work on Other Projects Around the Country

Time Warner Telecom announced the successful installation of a 10-state, 23-location MPLS network for Direct Energy – US Home Services, a national provider of heating, air conditioning and plumbing services.

"Since we've deployed Time Warner Telecom's MPLS VPN, we have seen dramatic results," said Dirk Shatsby, senior network engineer for Direct Energy – US Home Services. "The response time of our network has improved greatly and it's this type of speed that enables us to both maintain our high levels of customer service and improve employee productivity."

While Time Warner Telecom wrapped up this huge project, the company is also about to start another one.

Time Warner Telecom also announced a new contract with Free & Clear Inc. to provide a comprehensive suite of communications that will include Ethernet Internet Services, collocation and voice services to the Seattle-based company.

Free & Clear® is a provider of evidence-based tobacco cessation treatment programs for employers, health plans and government organizations.

"Time Warner Telecom offers technology that is critical to delivering our vital communication services," said Sandy Becker, Free & Clear's executive vice president. "Time Warner Telecom is providing the tools and expertise necessary to guarantee that our customers can always contact our Quit Coaches. Time Warner Telecom also announced the deployment of Gigabit Ethernet Internet connections to the Indiana GigaPoP, located at Indianapolis University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and the University of Minnesota.

The Indiana GigaPoP will deploy and manage 1Gbps of Internet connectivity to Indiana University Bloomington, IUPUI and Purdue University's West Lafayette campus, as well as the vast majority of higher education institutions throughout the state of Indiana as part of the I-Light project that launched in 2001.

"The goal of the Indiana GigaPoP is to support the higher education community across Indiana," said Dave Jent, director of the Indiana GigaPoP.

Additionally, the University of Minnesota contracted for up to 1Gbps of Internet connectivity to support the University's faculty and student Internet connectivity requirements.

"The faculty and students have increasing needs for bandwidth as each year passes," said Peter Bartz, network operations manager for the University of Minnesota.
